In order to hopefully minimize the number of station that have to request the Help from the PMS, here are the explainations.
Want to build a ISS model?
Fine, all you need is a few paper sheets and a pc printer.
The Microgravity Advanced Research and Support Center (an Italian Space Agency contractor) publishes a set of professionally drawn origami sheets wich allow you to build detailed paper reproductions of ISS, Shuttle, Soyuz and other orbiters.
You wont believe how accurate these models are... check it out!
Frank Bauer, KA3HDO: Regarding the packet frequencies and why we use split, I think many have already provided some answers to this. 145.80 is designated a human spaceflight downlink frequency. Right now it shares use on voice and packet for general operations and school group operations. In the future, we expect.....
Now that ISS packet radio is back on the air I noticed that the station seems to go deaf during some passes for about 30-40 seconds.
After that time operations continue normally.
During MIR times something similar used to happen when the Crew was using the VH1 channel on 143.625 MHz.
Do we have an interference problem also on ISS? Did anyone else notice that?
Reuteurs reports that two more space Tourists have signed a 20 million $ bill to fly on ISS.
One will go in 2004 and the other in 2005.
Identities are still kept confidential and I wonder if these guys know anything about amateur radio.
Frank Bauer, KA3HDO: ...The ARISS team have submitted the following opportunities for passes over Japan and Australia/New Zealand for this weekend. At this point in time we have gotten no feedback as to whether these have been uplinked to Mike Foale or whether he will be available to support any of these.....
Frank Bauer, KA3HDO: ...Phase 2 hardware (Kenwood D700 equipment setup completed and activated at approximately 11:20 UTC on December 8. As I mentioned, we did not expect to have the hardware operational until all the safety paperwork was completed.
for the last 2 weeks I've been Gateing Sapphire/NO-45 to aprserver an seem to be the only one doing so.
My thoughts are that if we had more listen/Gateing NO-45, that's one more AX-25 bird to use, plus it would be good practice for ISS phase II ops. The birds call is KE6QMD and uplink on 145.945 / downlink on 437.100. Thanks all n 73 de Mark KB1GVR.
Frank Bauer, KA3HDO: ...Sergej Samburov, RV3DR reports that the installation of the Phase 2 Kenwood radio could occur as early as Monday December 8. Once this hardware is installed and the team gets permission to begin operations, we expect the equipment to be activated.
Frank Bauer, KA3HDO: ...Astronaut Mike Foale was active during a North America and Europe pass on Saturday December 6. Numerous ham radio operators in these parts of the world made contact with Mike Foale or heard the ISS downlink...
